National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers
Welcome to the Ireland Branch of the National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers (NAHFO). The Ireland Branch is one of 13 branches that go to make up NAHFO as an organisation that acts as a voice for all those associated with healthcare fire safety. NAHFO works closely with other organisations to promote the highest standards of fire safety within all healthcare environments.
NAHFO has been established for over 30 years in the United Kingdom and in this time its members continue to shape the guidance and legislation used in healthcare in both Ireland and the United Kingdom. This web site serves as a communication forum to assist in this objective.
The Ireland Branch membership is aimed at Fire Safety Professionals who work in or with healthcare providers both in the Public and Private sector. The membership includes Fire Safety Officers and Advisors, Private Healthcare Fire Professionals, Local Authority Fire and Rescue Service Officers and others who have a direct responsibility for fire safety within, or associated to healthcare settings. We also provide Associate Membership which is aimed at Manufacturing/Service Providers that have an interest in Fire Safety/Management in Healthcare.
The objectives of NAHFO are;
- To promote and encourage the furtherance of the highest standards of fire safety in healthcare premises.
- To improve the status and prospects of the Health Service Fire Professionals, including a career structure.
- To afford facilities for training and the collation and dissemination of information to members.
- To establish liaison with other bodies on matters of common interest where this is consistent with the objectives of the Association.
To best achieve its objectives, NAHFO works very closely with other fire safety organisations and is considered as an authority in healthcare fire safety.
